Pastoral Care
Education For Life

Pastoral issues and others as appropriate are covered in a Saturday morning pastoral period by the form tutors or other members of the teaching staff during the assigned periods.
The pastoral period differs from mainstream teaching in that the most important aspect of this lesson is mutual respect and confidentiality within the group, established at an early stage to ensure that every student will feel comfortable expressing his/her views and concerns.
The atmosphere within each pastoral class may be unique to that particular group of people and the prescribed course may be adapted to fulfil its needs.
The schemes of work can be adapted to react to specific incidents or needs within the school or the outside community. The Life Skills programme should provide "Education for Living" in the widest sense.
Whenever possible guest speakers from outside the Upper School will be invited to talk to students.
